climbfujisan

You’re a fool not to climb Mount Fuji, and a fool to climb it more than once… as the old Japanese saying goes. Mount Fuji is revered by the Japanese as the symbol of Japan’s strength and solidarity, and most people that take the 6-8 hour trek will time it such that they make it to the peak in time for sunrise at 4:30AM. While we’re happiest to enjoy views of fuji-san from the hot springs at Hakone, it’s not so much of a climb as a hike (don’t let grandma pass you), and if you really want to go, we advise going at the fringes of the "official climbing season" of July and August, when it’s hopefully not as busy, but still snow-less and services are still available. Bring water – on the trail it’s pricey.
