ginzaoverview
Ginza is where the richest and most powerful Japanese businessmen (not office-laborer salarymen) rack up the bills on their corporate expense accounts, and their mistresses spend money on clothing and jewelry at the world’s top couture houses. Ginza is a good place to spend an afternoon and evening on ridiculous meals and clothing, but its lounges and hostess clubs are mostly closed to foreginers at night (try Shibuya for clubs, Omotesando/Aoyama for lounges and bars, Shinjuku for a local flavor, with hostess clubs, bars, and old-school Roppongi). For a cheaper, rowdy, and oh-so-Japanese dining option, hit up the izakaya and yakitori-ya in nearby Yurakucho’s smoky memory lane.
