Every fashion-conscious girl in Tokyo subscribes to a fashion magazine’s style – girls will be "CanCam" girls or "Egg" style. Shibuya 109 is THE favorite hangout of the kawaii-look girls, these supa-cute looks are popular with younger Harajuku girls and is where the extra-tanned/beach-blond gyaru look was started. This teenage style mecca is more Harajuku than young-professional Shibuya – it almost seems like La Forêt and Shibuya 109 have switched places. And mecca is not an exaggeration – on any given weekend you’ll see kids doing some hardcore shopping and pulling around their rolling suitcases – half the kids we interviewed flew in from around Japan just to shop at 109, or "itchy-maru-cue" in Japanese.
