biccamera

Like a little Akiba (little… relative to Akiba… is still huge), this cramped, multi-floor bonanza of electronics, computers, audio equipment and more (yes, cameras) is densely packed and a bit overwhelming. And that ringing in your ears as when you finally make your purchases? That’s the Bic Camera jingle, played on a continuous loop during your entire wonderful shopping experience. You don’t need to go all the way to Akihabara to get your fix of electronics. Usually more expensive than buying back home, but for specialty electronics it’s worth a look. Though the Shinjuku branches are said to be the largest, there are many similar stores throughout Tokyo, including Yodobashi Camera, which is nearly indistinguishable from Bic. Take note: these stores are so big that sometimes different departments are in completely different buildings, so grab an English floor guide and you’ll do fine. In Shinjuku, the two buildings are on opposite sides of the station!
